Fairport-Perinton Art Trail - Art Installation
Qualifications Due: October 30, 2026 by 10pm EST
The Fairport Public Arts Committee invites artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for a site-specific public artwork along the historic Erie Canal. The artwork will be part of the Fairport-Perinton Art Trail in the Village of Fairport and Town of Perinton. The project is funded by the Canal Days Committee with a total budget of $30,000.

Pre-Submittal Meeting Clarification: The meeting is optional, attendance will not be considered in the evaluation of Artist qualifications. The meeting will be hosted virtually and details will be shared via email to those registered. Any new information discussed, shared, or clarified will be posted online.
Technical Partners: Engineers or other technical partners are not required in the RFQ submission. However, stamped engineered plans will be required of the selected Artist/Artist team.
Finalist Proposals: The artist proposal should be a concept/schematic design. The proposal should sufficiently illustrate the Artist intent, materials, and scale. The selected Artist will advance the design, submitting Final Design and Final Construction Documents for review and approval. Refer to the sample contract, 1.3 Design.
Site requirements: The site will require permitting and approval from the municipality and NYS Canal Corporation. All permitting will be taken care of by the FPAC. The Artist will be required to provide the drawings, as required for the permit application. There are no known site constraints such as underground utilities. The proximity to the Empire State Trail and Park entry road will require consideration of site lines and clearance for pedestrian and vehicular safety. A base map will be provided to the selected Artist / Artist Team.
